Cumbria County Council continues to support the county’s residents and
businesses during the coming months with their ‘winter ready’ campaign.
This year’s campaign will reflect the winter travel and weather
preparations, and up to date public health information and guidance,
including information about covid and flu boosters.
A wide range of information about winter-related items is
available on the county council’s website.
The campaign will continue to include a programme of social media
activity helping to ensure that people are kept up to date with all the
latest winter advice and information.
Winter Ready 2022 seeks to ensure people have the right information,
advice and guidance at their fingertips. It has been developed, and is
supported by a wide range of partners, including Cumbria County Council,
Cumbria’s six district councils, NHS, Cumbria Community Foundation and the
Environment Agency.
The campaign provides advice and assistance on everything you need to
know to help you be prepared and to get winter ready, including:
· The latest
information, guidance and support available to people regarding
Coronavirus.
· Emergency planning
- advice on how to protect your home from flooding and find out if you are
at risk.
· Winter travel -
how to stay safe, keep up to date with road and weather information and
make sure your vehicle is ready for winter.
· General health
advice - staying well this winter.
· Information and advice about support for the Cost of Living
Councillor
Keith Little, Cumbria County Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways and
Transport, said:
“We have seen severe winter weather impact on communities in
Cumbria, in recent years. Winter is just around the corner, and it is
important we take some simple steps to prepare - from getting a flu or a
Covid booster jab, to checking over your vehicle.
“Whatever the weather throws at us this winter, Cumbria County
Council is ready to respond. The dedicated Winter Ready web pages are
a one-stop platform with links, handy tips and advice to help all of
Cumbria’s residents, businesses and visitors.”
